Satie
G. F. Mlely

Premiered live September 3, 1992,
by G. F. Mlely and Bill Markus
on The Jay Green Show, KPFK,
Los Angeles, California

Satie features minor chords with major sevenths along with other unresolved chord qualities that contrast sharply within an otherwise common scaletone bass line sequence.  The final A minor chord ending the A section comes as a surprise.  That same surprise is echoed in the bridge.  Also, with respect to a classic compositional technique, the bridge makes a primary phrase out of what was a complementary or secondary phrase in the A section.

NOTE
Each note of music is natural unless otherwise
indicated by an accidental or tied to an accidental.
