MUSIC AND MUSIC THEATER & CABARET ACTIVITY

G. F. Mlely is an internationally acclaimed pianist and composer.  His previous music theater stage work, And All That Jazz (originally Cocktail Lounge), ran four months in San Francisco.  After that, concentrating strictly on music, he performed as a featured soloist in a variety of venues, including those on tour in Europe.

His current activity includes VENICE, a 2-act musical which received its first cast reading and is heading for a staged workshop in Los Angeles.  Mlely is now at work on rewriting the book of another musical, LIFE DEATH & JAZZ, a theatrical cabaret piece for which he's nearly completed the music

"Threnody," a 7-minute instrumental track from his Re-Entry CD, released on JazCraft (JzC101), was featured in the New York non-dialogue theatrical production, How The Cookie Crumbles, produced by The Xoregos Performing Company, running 18 performances at The Common Basis Theater in New York, and for an unaccounted number of performances outside that city.

His original choral compositions have premiered in Hawai’i and in Los Angeles.  His video series, Jazz Piano with G. F. Mlely, was 2 years in re-runs on Olelo Television of Hawai’i.

Songs from his catalogue have been produced and recorded by Freddie Hubbard, George Harrison, (guitarist) John Tesh, Phil Perry, The Cunninghams, the latter on a Grammy nominated album.

Mlely writes essays on the art, craft, and politics of jazz and songwriting, some published online by JazCraft.net, as well as a full length book, New Music And  American Christendom - A Critique.

"G. F. Mlely is a talent of distinction with unique vision and an artistic voice of his own. But, then, it is not so much talent as genius." William Rocker, Director JazCraft
